“Listen carefully: FICS Research’s Study could lead to better deepfake detection”

A recent FICS study has finished the largest study on audio deepfakes where 1,200 humans were challenged to identify real audio messages from digital creations.  This study analyzed how well humans classify deepfakes, why they make their decisions on their classifications, and how they compared to machine learning (ML) detectors.
